Fall Fashion Trends 2013

From the run way to your closet- top fashion trends for fall 2013. Stores and designers purloin inspiration from the runway. Chances are, what you have on your back today was in some way or another inspired by a whimsical, unwearable item that was styled on a model and strutted down a long runway with fierce twists and turns, and cameras flashing months ago. The Fashion world is everlasting yet forever changing, one minute something is on trend and within a few weeks it’s a thing of the past. The fashion world is cyclical however, almost every trend comes back altered and modernized.
Vintage trends have come full circle. Teenage girls and young women are wearing high waisted shorts, pants, and even skirts, paired with cropped tops. The stone washed print is also back in style for denim this year.  Surprisingly turtlenecks have been seen recently on the runways and then later in stores. Solid colored turtlenecks have been styled underneath open-faced cardigans and or underneath denim jackets during this fall season.
Classical prints are very popular this season as they have been spotted on runways all over the world, from Italy to Paris to L.A.. Patterns such as plaid and floral are super popular. Plaid has been worn for decades and now can be found on skirts, tops, and even handbags. Plaid is timeless and classic and classics can’t be outdated. They can be dressed up to be elegant and dressed down and paired with black and gold jewelry for a more grunge or edgy look. Floral is another timeless print that’s been popular among women and even sometimes men for ages. There are so many different color combinations and types of floral that your options are nearly endless. Dare to wear classic patterns, have fun with them, and make them your own.
Common colors seen on the runway for fall 2013 have been winter whites and various shades of green. Such as darker shades such as army, olive, earth tone, fern, and emerald as emerald has been voted the color of the year. Other popular colors for this season tend to be warmer toned and darker colors; like navy, maroon, squash orange, and grey.  Do not shy away from these colors, use them as the main focal points of your outfits because they are bold, refreshing, and on fashionable.
Fall is the season of accessories; simple, delicate pieces to bold, statement pieces are all welcomed in this season. To properly accessorize an outfit you need at least five accessories. Now don’t be alarmed! This doesn’t mean you need to wear five necklaces. Minor things count as accessories such as nail polish, hair bows, glasses, and earrings. Most women wear two out of the four listed regularly without even trying to be fashionable. Accessorizing must be done properly as it can make or break any outfit. If you have a bold outfit with many focal points, you want to aim on the more simple side of accessing. For example, plain necklaces with a simple charm at the end are very popular for fall and winter. But if your outfit consists of solid colors and lacks a focal point, try spicing things up with a bold accessory, Such as a thick gold colored necklace chain, those are very popular this fall and add just the right amount of bling to any simple outfit. Another cute and comfy accessory that is sure to keep you cozy warm on the brisk fall days or when you’re having a bad hair day is a cute hat! Tight fitting neutral colored beanies are very popular for colder weather this fall.
Leather! Leather! Leather! Leather is very popular this fall as an accent piece where as last year it was popular for winter 2012 as A statement piece. This material can be found in just about all articles of clothing. It has been seen often in stores as a stripe on the side of pants or accents on the collar of shirts. Leather is also fun for jewelry and accessories such as hair bows, bracelets, and of course, hand bags. Combat boots which are also made of leather have been in style for years and just seem to keep reappearing on the runways and then in stores and then in your closet. They are definitely a more edgy trend, but they should be a staple in every girl’s wardrobe because there are so many different ways to style them. High black colored combat boots look adorable paired with skater dresses, jeans, and even a thick legging. A leather accent can really do a lot for an outfit. By adding just a pinch of edge your look, you can go from Ooh to ooh la la.
Eye-catching outerwear is an extremely big trend for this fall. While picking out a coat or heavy jacket for the season, it is important to remember to be bold. You’ll want a “look at me” color that grasps attention and adds color to the, boring days between fall and winter. Perhaps an emerald green or an eye catching maroon, something earth tone but bold not neon, neon’s are for summer.
On the more casual side of things. Investing in a basic flannel can really add a more lax vibe to your outfit. By tying it around your waist or throwing it over a muscle tank, band tee, or tee shirt it appears that you tried but you didn’t try too hard to achieve a relaxed, casual, yet put together look.  Wedged sneakers have been seen all over. In stores, pictures, featured in articles, and of course on the runway. These fun sneaks are usually paired with jeans, dresses, or skirts and add a polished, edgy touch to any outfit. Since they are such a unique, interesting shoe it truly leaves it open for interpretation on how to style them.
Although these pieces are often styled and referred to as trendy, fashion is meant to be fun and is a creative outlet if you allow it to be. Style these pieces according to your liking. Be

A.J Liebling once said, “ People everywhere confuse what they read in newspapers with news.”  What A.J Liebling meant by this quote was that often times the media portrays and presents the news an entirely different way than it was originally intended. Liebling implies that the articles written in newspaper have been shifted and worded differently to support the writer’s personal opinion, thus allowing the public a filtered, bias news story. This quote is easy to qualify with because there are two strong sides to the argument. Libeling’s quote is easy to defend in one aspect because bias is a prominent aspect of journalism, as writers often emphasize certain facts about a situation making it appear differently. This quote is also easy to challenge because newspaper writers must use direct quotation from the sources, which allows the reader a firsthand perspective, as the writers must also attribute their information to other sources. Newspaper writers also go through a series of editors who “fact check” their facts and information.
A.J Liebling’s quote is easy to defend in one aspect. Liebling argues that the news the public reads from newspapers is often not the original story, which then makes it unreliable information. Newspaper writers can emphasize certain facts and use persuasive language in an article that only supports one side of the argument or perspective thus leading the leader to form a different opinion than they originally would have. This makes the article appear completely different than originally intended, which proves A.J Lieblings quote to be true.
Lieblings quote is also easy to challenge because of the rules of journalism. Article writers must use “direct quotation”, which is quoting someone word for word without editing what they said. This provides a raw, unfiltered view of the story or article. Newspaper writers must also go through a series of editors who “fact check” their work before publishing the article. Fact Checkers check and analyze every fact and statistic written in the article to supply the readers with true, unbiased information, which provides a strong, argue meant to challenge A.J. Lieblings quote.
A.J Lieblings quote is easy to defend as well as challenge due to the strong arguments supporting both sides. Lieblings quote argues that the news presented to the public through newspapers is so filtered and changed due to the bias of the company and writer that its not legitimate information. Bias is a prominent element of journalism as writers often use creative language and emphasize certain sections of the story to make the situation appear a different way. The quote is easy to challenge because writers use direct quotation and go through a process of fact checking and editing so they do not produce bias, illegitimate information.
